Our New Eight-Step Rug Cleaning Process
Step 1: Pre-Inspection and Pickup
Our Master Rug Cleaner will inspect the rug as much as we possibly can to identify the rug type and inherent qualities that may affect the cleaning. We will outline expected results and formulate a plan to address the specific cleaning needs.
Step 2: Dry Soil Removal
We use a variety of multiple dusting techniques to loosen and remove the sand and soil embedded in the deep fibers. This is the most important step as we dust the rug from back-to-front and front-to-back. Dusting may be done by a tumble duster, pile lifter, compressed air, and special vacuum attachments.
Step 3: Pre-Condition
Depending on the fiber and soiling type, your rug will be pre-treated to emulsify the soils. We gently brush in the fiber specific treatment and allow time to release the soil.
Step 4: Pre-Spot and Fringe Preparation
Any difficult spots will be pre-treated with a safe, fiber-specific solution to increase the chances of removal. We will also treat and clean the fringe for a nice even finish.
Step 5: Wash
Our new and improved wash pit will clean your rugs gently and thoroughly. We will groom the fibers with brushes and similar pad wheels that mimic the gentle motion of river washing. Soil is then flushed away by a turbulent flow of soft water. Our rug washing solutions not only provide a thorough cleaning, but we drastically lower the risk of cross-contamination and dye transfer.
Step 6: Rinse
We transfer your rugs from the wash floor to a rug centrifuge where your rug goes through a final rinse and dry. It allows heavy and dense textiles to be processed quickly and efficiently. Additionally, it is an exceptional tool for removing urine and other contaminants from rugs. Using a combination of centrifugal force, water irrigation, and effective chemistry, contaminants are flushed out of rugs better than any other method!
Step 7: Dry, Groom, and Finish
Once the rug is removed from the centrifuge, it is hung for final drying in a controlled environment. When the rug is dry, it is combed and finished with soft groomers made for specialty rugs.
Step 8: Post-Inspection and Delivery
Our cleaning specialist will give the rug a final inspection and release it for pick up or delivery. Your rug will be wrapped in brown craft paper to protect it from dust and environmental soils until it is picked up or delivered. Upon delivery, we will lay the rug for you.

Avoid Giving Permission For Any Carpet Cleaner To Clean Your Rug
You could risk the possibility of irreversible damage, dye bleeding, incomplete pet urine removal, and musty odors from improper drying methods.
The differences from top down cleaning in-home and true proven rug washing in a bath are monumental!
Without the proper knowledge, many customers will unknowingly pay your average wall-to-wall carpet cleaner to “pass over” your precious area rug for a “deep clean.” This may work for wall-to-wall carpet, but your delicate rug is a different story. A full submersion bath and proper techniques call for a thorough, gentle cleaning of your rug.
In-Home Cleaning Methods are Ineffective
The top-down or steam cleaning method not only cannot remove all the soil from the foundation and the pile of the rug, but it is also synonymous with harsh and inappropriate chemicals and detergents. In-home cleaning processes usually call for spraying hot water, alkaline solutions onto the face of the rug and extracting.
- You not only run the risk of them saturating your hardwood floors or scratching your tile or natural stone, but you are not receiving an effective cleaning. You are paying for them to clean just the surface without removing the soil embedded in the fibers.
- This process does not call for proper drying techniques. Without proper drying, you are leaving your rug for risk of mold and mildew growth.
- You could ruin the carpet pile without proper grooming causing splotchy and wand marks to remain.
- Wool rugs can cause a deep, “wet dog” smell when wet causing your home to smell without thoroughly drying
- HIGH HEAT OR HIGH ALKALINITY can cause the dyes to bleed
